Silent No Longer: Kafentzis Is a Bronco

There were two "Go Broncos" made Sunday night. One was revealed later that evening, but the second one was unknown until Roman Kafentzis decided to post it on his Twitter account Tuesday afternoon.

"I actually committed on Sunday night but decided to wait a few days before making it official." Kafentzis told Rivals. Though it was thought by many that commit was made by someone who was visiting Boise State, Roman was not on a visit. Instead, he will take his official visit to Boise on January 13th.

The 6'2" 200 lb.recruit out of power-house Mater Dei high school in California held offers from many Mountain West schools, but ultimately the Broncos won out. "The coaching staff really made me feel wanted. Now I get to be part of a great class coming in, filled with a lot of talent. Plus, the community of Boise really makes you feel like it's home."

Kafentzis' recruitment from Boise State got a bit of a late start. He was visited by Coach Avalos and Coach Riddle on December 2nd during the contact period, and came out of that meeting with an offer. Things escalated quickly from there with him committing only nine days after that.

Though only rated a 2-star on Rivals, it's easy to see that Roman could end up being the type of recruit who plays well above his rating. Coming from a prominent high school program, he looks like he can play well against the run as well as pass coverage, as he is a hard-hitter who tackles well in the open field and has some speed. Overall, Kafentzis looks like a great addition to this class who will be a good fit in Avalos' system. When asked to describe himself, he says "I'm a leader and everyday I'll come ready to work and get better. I'll come ready to hit and make plays and do what's needed of me to win games."

Roman is expected to play the SAM Linebacker/Nickel role, which is a hybrid position. He is the 15th known commitment of the 2017 class. His highlights can be viewed here:
