COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Boise State forward Tyson Degenhart was named the Mountain West Freshman of the Week for a league-leading eighth time this season, the league office announced Monday.

Degenhart’s eight Freshman of the Week honors are more than the rest of the league’s freshmen combined. This is the fifth-straight week Degenhart has been honored with the award, and the eighth time in the last 10 weeks.

Tyson Degenhart averaged 10.5 points and 6.5 rebounds in games against Air Force and Utah State, leading the Broncos to a pair of victories this past week to remain a half a game in front of Wyoming for first place in the Mountain West. Degenhart went 7-of-15 from the floor (.467), including 2-for-6 from 3-point range (.333), and was 5-of-6 at the free throw line.

Against the Falcons, Degenhart scored nine points and pulled down six rebounds, and had a pair of assists, two steals and a block. He was 3-of-5 from the floor and 1-for-1 from 3-point range, contributing to the Broncos’ best shooting performance in nearly 15 years. Boise State went 33-of-48 from the floor (.688) en route to a 26-point victory, the widest margin of victory on the road over a conference opponent since defeating Fresno State by 34, Jan. 25, 2020.

Against the Aggies, Degenhart scored 12 points (including a game-high nine first-half points), his 15th game in double figures this season. Degenhart also tied for the team high with seven rebounds (Mladen Armus), and chipped in a pair of steals and a pair of blocks.
