BOISE, Idaho - Boise State center Thomas Byrd became the most recent member of the Bronco football team to receive preseason recognition for his on-field achievements, Thursday (Aug. 20), as he was named to the preseason watch list for the 2009 Rimington Trophy.

Byrd (5-11, 282), a sophomore from San Pablo, Calif. (McClymond HS), is one of 43 players named on the preseason watch list. As the Broncos' starting center in 2008, Byrd helped Boise State record 288.5 average passing yards per game, while only allowing 13 sacks on the season.
