Broncos Sign Dickinson to NLI

BOISE, Idaho— Boise State men’s basketball signed Marcus Dickinson to a National Letter of Intent, head coach Leon Rice announced Thursday. Dickinson is a 6-foot-2 guard out of North Norman High School in Norman, Okla.

“Marcus is a true point guard who has won a ton of games,” said Rice. “He comes from a winning program that he helped take to a new level. He’s a proven winner.”

Dickinson averaged 20.7 points per game as a senior, helping the Timberwolves to a 24-4 record and the school’s first appearance in the 6A state championship game. He garnered third-team all-state honors and was selected to play in the Oklahoma Coaches Association All-State All-Star Game.

A four-year starter, Dickinson was named All-Central Oklahoma Athletic Conference each of his four seasons. He was the COAC Defensive Player of the Year as a senior.

“He is a strong on-ball defender with a lot of toughness and he loves to compete,” said Rice. “Offensively, Marcus is really good at attacking and finishing at the rim.”

Last year Dickinson shot 57.3 percent from the field. He hit 53 percent of his attempts as a junior en route to scoring 18.4 points per game, but saw a significant increase in his three-point shooting during his final prep campaign. Dickinson was 44-of-97 (45.4 percent) from deep as a senior after shooting 18-of-57 (31.6 percent) as a junior.

“Marcus is very dedicated to improving his game,” said Rice. “We know he is bringing a work ethic and great mentality with him to Boise.”

During his final two seasons he averaged 4.4 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 2.1 steals per game.
