Boise States 1-2 Punch Headed to Mobile

Mobile, AL. Two of the most prolific pass catchers in Boise State history will showcase their skills at the Under Armour Senior Bowl. Wide receivers Austin Pettis and Titus Young have both officially accepted an invitation to the 2011 game, it was announced today. The 2011 Under Armour Senior Bowl is scheduled for 3 pm (CT) on January 29th in Mobile's Ladd-Peebles Stadium. It will be televised live by NFL Network.

Young and Pettis were a part of a Boise State program that went 48-5 the last four years, including an undefeated 14-0 season and Fiesta Bowl victory a year ago. The duo combined for 2,166 receiving yards and 19 receiving touchdowns this season alone.

"It's no secret that Boise State has been one of the premier programs in the country the last several years and Titus and Austin are two big reasons for that," said Senior Bowl President and CEO Steve Hale. "They will go down as perhaps the best receiving duo in school history and we're really looking forward to bringing them to Mobile to perform in front of the entire National Football League."

Pettis leaves Boise State as the school's all-time leader in receptions with 229 and touchdown catches with 39. The two-time first-team All-WAC selection also ranks second on the school's all-time receiving yards list with 2,838 for his career.

As a senior, Pettis reeled in 71 catches for 951 yards and 10 touchdowns. He was part of a Bronco offense that ranked second in the nation in scoring offense, averaging 46.67 points a game during the regular season. In the Broncos' 26-3 victory over Utah in the Las Vegas Bowl, Pettis saved his best for last-reeling in 12 catches for 147 yards and a touchdown.

"I'm very excited about the opportunity," Pettis said. "It seems that four years of a lot of hard work and a lot of success at Boise State has gotten me to where I want to be right now and I'm very excited to try and perform to the best of my abilities in the Senior Bowl."

Young, a three-time first-team All-WAC selection, wrapped up his career at Boise State as the school's all-time leading receiver with 3,063 yards. Thanks to a 64-yard effort in the Broncos' bowl game, he also set the school's all-time single season receiving yards record with 1,215 on the year. He finished second behind Pettis in career receptions (204) and fourth in career receiving touchdowns (25).

He is the first Bronco to eclipse the 1,000-yard receiving mark twice (2009, 2010) and is also a threat in the return game, averaging 152.42 all-purpose yards per game during the regular season-a mark that ranked in the top 20 in the country. Young's 43-game streak with a reception is currently tied for second best in the country.

"I have a lot to prove," said Young. "I know that in our conference a lot of coaches say that the competition that we're playing against is not NFL-caliber week in and week out. When I step foot in Mobile, Alabama there's no excuses. It's going to be all action, coaches are going to be able to see first-hand what we actually have and I'm very excited to show them."
