Boise State gets a little midseason break as it plays one game in two weeks.

The Broncos play host to Louisiana Tech on Tuesday-providing time for some rest before and after the game.

The Broncos couldn't have accomplished much more during the first half of the season. They're 6-0, they've beaten two ranked teams and they're already 4-0 on the road. They've moved up to No. 2 in the polls-prime position in the race toward the BCS National Championship Game.

Still, coach Chris Petersen says he has some flaws to fix-another way the Broncos can use the extra time surrounding the Tuesday game.

"We have some issues, we really do," Petersen said. "There's probably more issues than meets the eye. So that's a good thing. It keeps us hungry and keeps us working, but I think overall we're proud of these guys."

What specifically does Petersen want to work on? He's keeping that information in-house.

"I don't think that's something we're going to come public with," he said. "There are just a lot of little things.? That's why we practice. It's an individual thing here and there."

NOTES, QUOTES

• San Jose State University Police cleared Boise State's players of wrongdoing in a pre-game collision between a player and a female member of the flag corps.

• Boise State punt returner Chris Potter was the WAC Special Teams Player of the Week. He ranks eighth in the nation with a 16.8-yard average.

• Boise State has outscored its two WAC foes 107-0. The Broncos set the WAC record for point differential in 2002 when they outscored opponents 409-111.

Season Summary: The first half of the season went according to plan for the Broncos, who are 6-0. They beat Virginia Tech and Oregon State in a couple of tough, physical games and obliterated their other four opponents. They're No. 2 in the nation with four of their final six games at home.

Looking Ahead: The Broncos only have one obvious weakness-kickoffs. The actual kicks are a large part of the issue. It hasn't caused a significant problem yet, but against teams like Hawaii and Nevada you can't provide short fields.

STRATEGY AND PERSONNEL

Scouting The Offense: The Broncos have been incredibly efficient on offense. They have scored 59, 57 and 48 points the past three weeks with quarterback Kellen Moore barely appearing in the third quarter. Last week, Moore didn't play at all in the second half. He leads the nation in pass efficiency at 190.35, and there's no reason to believe that number is going down anytime soon. Tailback Doug Martin has contributed 117.5 yards per game rushing and receiving with similar playing-time limits.

Scouting The Defense: The Broncos have been consistently dominant. They rank first in total defense (210.2 yards per game) and rushing defense (59.3 ypg). They have two shutouts and allow 12.3 points per game, a number inflated by several special-teams gaffes. If there's a weakness, it might be in pass coverage, but opposing quarterbacks rarely have the time to exploit it.

Roster Report:

• WR/PR Mitch Burroughs (high ankle sprain) could return this week. He has missed four straight games.
