COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.— Boise State men’s basketball forward James Webb III was named the Mountain West Player of the Week Monday, Webb’s third such honor in the last four weeks. The redshirt junior led Boise State to a pair of conference wins last week, averaging 18.5 points and seven rebounds per outing.

On the week, Webb shot 57.1 percent from the floor, 44.4 percent from three-point range and 75 percent from the free throw line. In 65 combined minutes, he did not commit a turnover.

Webb scored 25 points and grabbed nine rebounds in Boise State’s 81-70 win Saturday, over Fresno State. He had 18 points in the game’s first 15 minutes as the Broncos roared to a 51-32 halftime lead. Webb finished the game 7-for-12 from the field and 9-of-12 from the free throw line, adding a block and a steal.

The Broncos opened the week Tuesday, at Utah State. Webb scored 12 points, including going 2-for-3 from three-point range, helping Boise State run away with a 76-61 road win. It was Boise State’s second all-time win in 20 trips to Logan, Utah.

This is the third player of the week award for Webb this season and fourth of his career. The Bronco forward has taken home each of the last three MW weekly awards he was eligible to receive as the Broncos did not play during the week ending Dec. 27.

Boise State has won nine consecutive games, running its record to 12-4 and posting a 3-0 start to MW play. Webb and the Broncos will put their streaks on the line this week starting Wednesday, at Nevada and returning home Saturday, to host San Diego State.
