Getting to know Daniel Padilla

As part of our continuing post-signing day coverage, Duck Sports Authority is contacting all of Oregon's class of 2007 signees in order to get to know them better. This is a series that will continue for the next few weeks.

Rankings: Rivals.com two-star

Recent statistics: For his senior season, Padilla converted 14 of 16 field goals with a long of 53 yards and was a perfect 47 for 47 on extra points. He also showed solid leg strength with 95 percent of his kickoffs going for touchbacks and averaged 44 yards per punt, placing five balls inside the 10 yard-line. For his performance, Padilla was named first team all-league, first team all-CIS, first team all-county, second team all-American and the Los Angeles Times special teams Player of the Year. He chose Oregon over offers from Colorado, San Diego State, and Fresno State.

Daniel Padilla did not grow up playing football. In fact, he only recently picked up the game.
