O-D West notebook: Defense flying to the ball

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - After three days of practice at the Offense-Defense All-American Bowl, the West team's defense could be summed up in one word - speed.

The West linebackers may not be big in stature, besides Keenan Robinson but they make up for it by flying to the football. The cornerbacks and safeties are also extremely athletic and make it tough for even top receivers like Dez Bryant, DeAngelo Benton, and Anthony Boyles to break things open.

West defensive coordinator and safeties coach Todd Quick says with this kind of speed and experience on defense, size doesn't matter as much.
