Work paying off for Wood

For most high school kids, summer means fun in the sun. However, one of the hottest rising stars in Southern California has used his summer to work his way to a division I football scholarship. Nick Wood, a 6-foot-2 inch 272 pound defensive tackle out of Poway, Calif., High School, has watched his stock skyrocket over the summer months, and it's not about to go down anytime soon.

The talented defensive lineman has put his work in, and it is beginning to pay off to the tune of ten scholarship offers. Currently Wood holds offers from Hawaii, Colorado State, Arizona State, Washington State, Washington, Utah, Boise State, Idaho, Duke, and Oregon State.

Not surprisingly, the San Diego area native is receiving the most attention from the PAC 10. "All of the PAC 10 schools are pretty active on me," Woods stated. "Arizona State really wants me out there. Oregon State contacts me a lot." Wood is also getting a lot of attention from Michigan State, Colorado, and Vanderbilt, all of whom have not offered, but may be close to offering the talented lineman.
