SoCal safety is a hit
Los Angeles (Calif.) Cathedral strong safety Ayinde Vaughan (6-0, 205, 4.5) sure passes the look test. He also obviously passes the test on the playing field.
Playing in only two league games, Vaughan earned all-league honors. He played a total of four games (he also played two playoff games) and racked up 25 tackles, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and two fumble recoveries.
The reason for Vaughan's late start is he transferred from Pacific Palisades where he played as a sophomore.
Many times a transfer can slow down the recruiting process but since Vaughan made such a good impression he is getting recruiting from the likes of Cal, Oregon, Oregon State, UCLA, USC and Tennessee.
"Ayinde is a football player," Cathedral defensive coordinator C.J. Fulwilder said. "If you're a X's and O's guy and if you want to watch a great football player substantiate everything you put on the board, Ayinde is your guy."
The reason being is he can really tattoo the ball carrier and he's also very good in coverage.
