Breaking down Kevin Gladney

The class of 2013 could be the year of the 'big' receiver in Ohio. Already more than a handful of tall receivers have emerged as high level prospects. At the very top of that list is Akron (Ohio) Firestone product Kevin Gladney. The 6-foot-3, 175-pound prospect had an impressive sophomore season and already has the full attention of college coaches. Here are highlights from Gladney's sophomore year.

Observations:

Has the unique combination of size and athleticism that can't be taught. Good ball skills and body control, goes up and catches the football at its highest point and catches everything out away from his body. Also a smooth route runner with quick feet that gets in and out of cuts quickly. The fact that he's already leaving defenders as a sophomore is very encouraging, should get even faster the next two years as his body matures. Gladney compares favorably to 2012 prospect Dwayne Stanford from Cincinnati Taft and is probably faster at the same stage.
