St. Marys wide receiver Caleb Coleman made the short journey up the hill for his official visit to California this weekend. He came down feeling even better about his commitment.
"It was a great visit. I couldn't ask for more," said an enthusiastic Coleman.
Coleman was hosted by a fellow wide receiver Bryce Treggs.
"As a whole it was just a good weekend, spending time with my fellow classmates."
"Jacobi Hunter was one guy I was hanging out with, and we really hit it off. Chad Whitener is real cool too. It was really good with all of the guys."
Hunter became one of Cal's newest verbal commitments this morning, and Coleman admits that he knew it was coming.
"I think I was the first person he told. He told me last night that he was going to commit to Coach (Sonny) Dykes this morning."
While spending time with his fellow recruits was good, the highlights for Coleman came in the film room.
"I had a really good film session with Coach (Rob) Likens and Coach (Mark) Tommerdahl. Just looking at the offense and how they'd use me. It's really perfect for me."
"They're projecting me as an outside receiver, running deeper routes mainly, but I could be used inside too. It's kind of up in the air until we all get to campus and they see exactly what they have."
The time spent with the Cal coaches wasn't entirely new for Coleman, as he had enjoyed some face-time with them before.
"I had my in-home with Coach Likens last week, and then Coach Dykes and Coach Tommerdahl came by a few weeks ago. Both went really well."
With his pledge to Cal as secure as ever, Coleman goes into this spring focused on priming himself for the next level.
"I'm going to be focused on football. I might work in some track, but I'll be in touch with the coaches to make sure I'm doing everything possible to come in ready to compete".
