DeMartinis paves the way
Less than 10 days away from National Signing Day 2007, and arguably the strongest unit of Cal's expected recruiting class is entrenched in between the line of scrimmage. Along with the recently featured San Francisco (Calif.) St. Ignatius standout Matt Summers-Gavin, another name Bears fan should expect to make an impact for the blue and gold is Sherman Oaks (Calif.) Notre Dame offensive tackle Sam DeMartinis. Like "MSG", DeMartinis helped pushed his outstanding Knights deep into the Southern California section playoffs this past season.
With the massive 6-foot-6, 280-pound DeMartinis leading the way offensively, the Knights finished the season at an impressive 11-1 mark. However, their season ended abruptly with a heartbreaking 31-21 loss to SoCal powerhouse Long Beach (Calif.) Poly High.
